Schedule
Classes are held on Saturdays from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. (see full schedule below).
Classes are held at the St. Andrews Heritage Church, 22279 116 Avenue, Maple Ridge (just off the Haney Bypass, close to the Billy Miner pub).
Membership is open to all ages! While you can be too young to start chess (we suggest waiting until your child is at least six years old), you’re never too old to learn this amazing game. See our founder’s article Why Chess? for more information about the benefits of learning chess.
Fall 2026 /Winter 2027 Term
We will continue to support BC Chess, but aim to run the academy on most Saturdays when the venue is available, but we will be closed on long weekends and during school breaks. If additional tournaments are scheduled, or additional dates become available at the venue, the schedule of classes may be updated. Please subscribe to our newsletter for schedule update and reminders, as well as more information about the tournaments we are supporting.

Fee
$40.00 per session. Each session includes one hour of instruction time and one hour of play & practice games, where students practice what they have learned during the lesson. Boards and clocks provided.
We accept cash, cheque and etransfer. Payments can be made weekly, monthly or a prepayment for the entire term. If a pre-paid class is missed, credit can be used towards a future session.
Family discounts are available if you have two or more members from the same family.
Senior discount is 50% off the regular fee.
